Nixon Insurance in Newton, MA is a third-generation agency with a long history of success. The name Nixon has been associated with insurance since the 1880s, when Ernest Nixon began his career as an office boy working for a Boston insurance carrier. He founded his own agency in 1928, and worked exclusively in the industry until his death in 1956.
His son, John P. Nixon, joined the family business at the Milk Street office in Boston in 1931. John continued to expand the agency, and its name and reputation grew steadily with the addition of his own sons, Jack and Dave.
In 1970, the agency relocated to its present site in Newton, the city where John lived his entire life and raised his family. The move to Newtonville Avenue re-energized the agency and set the stage for further expansion and growth. John P. Nixon died in 1990, leaving his sons to shape and guide the future of Nixon Insurance. Jack Nixon retired in 1999, having enjoyed a long and successful insurance career.
Today, Nixon Insurance takes great pride in being family-owned and operated for more than 87 years. Ernest's grandson, Dave Nixon, now owns the agency and proudly continues its rich tradition of providing superior customer service based on a foundation of integrity.
